Nintendo and Capcom Bust Out Mega May
In celebration of Mega Man’s appearance in the upcoming Super Smash Bros., Nintendo and Capcom are bringing you Mega May. They are rolling out six Virtual Console games for the Nintendo 3DS throughout the month.
To kick off Mega May, Mega Man Xtreme was the first title to hit the Nintendo 3DS eShop on May 1. Mega Man Xtreme was originally released for the Game Boy Color in 2001 and features bosses, stages, and enemies from its Super Nintendo counterparts, Mega Man X and Mega Man X 2. Later this month, the sequel Mega Man Xtreme 2 will see release on May 29. The early entries in the Mega Man X series are some of my favorite games ever. I think a rush of impulse buying will happen to me this month.
The other four Mega Man games coming to the eShop were originally release on the Game Boy – yes, the original that turned 25 this year. Nintendo and Capcom are finally releasing the sequels to Mega Man: Dr. Wily’s Revenge. I must admit, Capcom did an amazing job porting Mega Man to the Game Boy. These are great looking games even with the constraints of the original hardware.
So, if you’re a fan of Mega Man on the go, visit the eShop every Thursday this month to add another game to your collection. The release schedule can be found on Nintendo.com.
Also, if you really are a Mega Man fan, you may have caught a couple puns. How many did you catch?
