If Star Wars was actually set in a futuristic Feudal Japan, I’d imagine this is how Darth Vader and his Stormtroopers would look.
Toy manufacturing behemoth, Bandai, let us in on that vision with its new collection of Star Wars figures modeled after real samurai armor from the days of old. The official title for the Darth Vader figure was revealed at the Tokyo Toy Show earlier this year, “Star Wars Movie Realization Samurai Taisho Darth Vader.” Take a look at the pictures below!
The attention to detail on Vader’s Edo-inspired outfit is impressive (these ain’t your run-of-the-mill kids’ toys), and his lightsaber in the shape of a katana is a sweet touch. The added twist to Samurai Vader that makes him even more interesting is his motorcycle. Furthermore, not only are the Stormtroopers equipped with their own snazzy sword, but they come with blasters too. My one complaint are the nipples on their armor… If Batman can’t make it work, no one can.
Each Star Wars figurine retails for about $57 from CD Japan.
