DRACULA UNTOLD – New Name, Same Date
In the last five years audiences have had their share of the modern vampire – sparkly, found a way around the pesky daylight problem, dates (not eats) humans – but it’s been quite some time since we’ve seen any old-school vampire stories re-imagined.
Universal Studios has just announced that their Dracula project – now titled Dracula Untold – will be changing that. The film is set to be released on October 3, 2014 and will star Fast & Furious 6‘s Luke Evans.
Dracula Untold will take a stab at the origin story. There have been so many repeat attempts at making (and re-making) a good origin story film that it’ll be refreshing to see something that hasn’t been done before. Although I’m personally a huge fan of the evolved, modern vampire, there’s something to be said about taking it back to the beginning.
Evans will portray the man who eventually transforms into Dracula. He’s also set to star in the re-make of The Crow which I am decidedly less thrilled about.
There hasn’t been much information released plot-wise, but it’s probably a safe bet to assume that it’ll be nice mix of the usual historical theories and some creatively composed ones.
Are you looking forward to a more mature version of the classic vampire story, or do you prefer the latest pop culture creation?
