WALKING DEAD Spin-Off Series Announced by AMC
Breaking Bad is not the only AMC series to get a spin-off show. AMC has announced that The Walking Dead will have a companion story/spin-off set in the same universe as The Walking Dead, but with new characters. These new characters will reportedly be another group of survivors. AMC is still in the early stages of development, but considering the success of the show, creation of video games, toys, and more; it makes sense that a spin-off would be in development. Here is what Charlie Collier, AMC’s President, had to say:
“Building on the success of the most popular show on television for adults 18-49 is literally a no-brainer. We look forward to working with Robert, Gale and Dave again as we develop an entirely new story and cast of characters. It’s a big world and we can’t wait to give fans another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse.”
Walking Dead creator, Robert Kirkman had the following to say:
“After 10 years of writing the comic book series and being so close to the debut of our fourth, and in my opinion, best season of the TV series, I couldn’t be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of The Walking Dead universe. The opportunity to make a show that isn’t tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing.”
I am a huge fan of The Walking Dead, and can’t get enough of the show. The 16-episode season is never enough for me, leaving me wanting more. I am interested in hearing about the new show, but I am sure I will likely watch it. Season four of The Walking Dead returns to AMC on October 13.
