Writers Sign On For THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3 And FANTASTIC FOUR Reboot

Great news for all the Marvel fans out there! Sony has officially signed on writers for The Amazing Spider-Man 3. The studio announced that following the summer 2014 release of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, they will be releasing another two films in the franchise. The first film in the rebooted franchise was a fairly straightforward origin story, but featured a great cast, and really set the tone for the sequels that follow. Andrew Garfield makes a much more convincing Peter Parker than Tobey Maguire ever did, and a change in female lead didn’t hurt either.

According to THR, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner, the writing team behind the second installment in the franchise will be returning to pen the script for the third film. There’s no official word on the plot, but fans are hoping for a ‘death of Gwen Stacy’ storyline to surface at some point.

In other Marvel news, Fox has also announced a writer for its long-awaited Fantastic Four reboot. It’s been a while since Josh Trank (Chronicle) signed on and fans of the project were starting to think it might be stuck in studio purgatory forever, but now it seems to be back on track. THR is reporting that Simon Kinberg has taken over the writing for the project and is doing an overhaul on the script which is pieced together from previous versions written by Jeremy Slater, Michael Green, Seth Grahame-Smith and T.S. Nowlin.

A good script is the first step in making a great film, so cross your fingers Kinberg gets the job done. The first attempt at a live-action version of the iconic comic book series wasn’t exactly a failure, but I still can’t wait to see how they re-imagine the characters in this new film.

Which of these rebooted franchises are you most excited about? Let us know in the comment section ago.
