Many Happy Returns, SHERLOCK Fans

The game is back on!

It’s been two, agonizing years since the conclusion of Sherlock, Season 2, but the game is back on January 19, 2014! To build up the anticipation, BBC released a seven-minute prequel short titled “Many Happy Returns.”

Inspector Lestrade (Rupert Graves) and Anderson (Jonathan Aris) sit together in pub following up on several rumored sightings of the late Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch). These rumors come from many different accounts around the world detailing solved cases otherwise thought to be unsolvable. Skeptical as always, Lestrade can’t stand to hear anymore and makes his way to Watson’s (Martin Freeman) flat.

“Now, onto the next case: The Mysterious Juror.”

I find the above extremely amusing. Anderson despised Sherlock and his undermining attitude towards the London police, yet he’s the one desperate to find confirmation that the detective is still alive. Towards the end, Watson watches an uncut version of a video left by Sherlock two years ago. It’s a bittersweet gift from Lestrade that has us viewers scrunching our faces to hold back the emotional sniffles.

“Many Happy Returns” is a nice little Christmas gift for Sherlock fans. We’re practically on the edge of our seats, full of anticipation, for the start of season 3. Is it January 19 yet?!
