ICYMI: THE FLASH Costume Revealed
This week is all about the crimson speedster. The internet was set aflame with excitement over the Flash costume for his new live-action show on the CW, coming later this year. It seems the creators of The Flash spared no expense developing this costume, and by expense we mean the recruiting of three-time Academy Award winner in costume design, Colleen Atwood, whose credits include Alice in Wonderland, Memoirs of a Geisha, and Chicago. Atwood was also nominated for her work on Snow White and the Huntsman, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, and Sleepy Hollow. Pretty impressive.
We’re glad the CW is no longer shying away from superhero costumes. Remember the color coordinated looks from Smallville? Frustrating. In Arrow, The (Green) Arrow’s costume looks fantastic, and Black Canary looks bodacious as ever — kudos to being able to keep the girls under wraps while fighting. Fighting, or running, with boobs suck. Check out a few pictures we found of Grant Guston breaking in his new suit on the set. Also, check out the video taken by Pat Zap (Comiccrow) on Instagram.
FLASH FACT: This will be The Flash’s second live-action appearance on the small screen. Back in 1990, The Flash starred John Wesley Shipp as Barry Allen. As a nod of sorts to the original television series, CW’s The Flash will feature Shipp in the pilot episode. Who he’ll be playing is currently unknown.
