First INTERSTELLAR Trailer Finally Tells Us What It’s About
Christopher Nolan’s name alone is enough to bring a lot of seats to the movie theater. And in his usual fashion, Nolan keeps us intrigued with very little info about his next upcoming film, Interstellar. The first teaser alluded to a man (Matthew McConaughey) tasked with saving humanity by going into space. With the first full trailer now released, we finally have more details about just what is going on:
When a wormhole (which hypothetically connects widely-separated regions of space-time) is newly discovered, a team of explorers and scientists embark on a voyage through it to transcend previous limitations on human space travel.
Apparently the world is on the verge of collapse. The Earth seems to be dying slowly, and everyone is starving. The government sees an opportunity to leave to find another place to call home, and they task McConaughey to help find it. This easily looks to be one of those science fiction films steeped in theoretical physics, and it is. Writer Jonathan Nolan’s original screenplay is said to be heavily influenced by Kip Thorne’s ideas on wormholes and space travel. Piece that together Christopher’s grandiose presentation, and Interstellar could be a truly awesome space exploration movie, or at least a spiritual origin story of almost every space movie we currently have.
