Activision to Produce THE LEGEND OF KORRA Game

Nickelodeon’s The Legend of Korra is getting its first ever video game! Developed by Platinum Games and published by Activision, the game is going to be a downloadable title for Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. Capitalizing on Platinum Games’ area of expertise, the game will be a fast paced single player brawler, allowing fans to take control of Korra and use her bending powers over the four elements (Water, Air, Fire and Earth) to defeat her enemies. The game will also feature high speed segments utilizing Korra’s polar bear dog Naga, and will feature the show’s competitive sport Pro-Bending as well.

The game will take place in between Books 2 and 3 of The Legend of Korra and will bridge the gap between the seasons. In order to keep the story and feel of the game authentic to the show, staff writer Tim Hendrick is writing the game, and series creators and executive producers Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino will have a consulting position in the game’s development. The game will also feature cel-shaded art in order to capture the visuals of the show. In an interesting move, fans can vote on one of three different concept arts by show artist Christie Teng to choose the digital cover art for the game on their Facebook page.

It’s also interesting that the game was announced so far into its development cycle. This can be indicative of Activision’s 30% cut to their marketing budget since now they won’t have to spend as much time marketing the game.

No release date has been announced for the game yet, but a 3DS Legend of Korra game has also been announced, which will be a single player turn-based RPG that follows largely the same story as the console games. Stay tuned for more details that are surely to be announced as the game progresses in its development.
