Marvel’s DAREDEVIL Netflix Series Casts Rosario Dawson
Marvel recently cast Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin in its first Netflix series, Daredevil. Now, we have another exciting new addition. Marvel has announced that Rosario Dawson has been cast in the 13 episode series, which premieres in 2015. It is unknown who exactly the Sin City actress is playing, but the studio describes her role as, “a dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this broken city.” There are a number of options for who her character is, from Jessica Jones (who is headlining her own Netflix series) to Elektra.
Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel Television, had this to say about Dawson’s casting. “Rosario Dawson is one the most charismatic, talented and powerful actresses in Hollywood, so she was always at the top of our list for ‘Marvel’s Daredevil’. Her role in the series is absolutely critical to Matt Murdock’s journey to become the hero we know as Daredevil.” Daredevil is executive produced by Loeb, Goddard (who also wrote the first two episodes), and showrunner Steven S. DeKnight.
Daredevil is the first of four Netflix series on Marvel. It will be followed by Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. The four will then cross over into a Defenders miniseries.
