Scott Derrickson to direct DOCTOR STRANGE for Marvel

Marvel’s Doctor Strange adaptation is one step closer to becoming a reality. The studio has found it’s director in Scott Derrickson (Sinister, Deliver us From Evil). This great news as far as I’m concerned. Scott Derrickson did a fantastic job making the most out of a small budget on Sinister, so it will be cool to see what he can do with a large Marvel budget.

See Derrickson’s tweet below:

Doctor Strange is a really cool character created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. He first appeared in the Marvel Universe in Strange Tales No. 110 over 50 years ago in 1963. Doctor Strange is a former neurosurgeon who serves as the Sorcerer Supreme and primary protector of Earth against magical and mystical threats.

Derrickson wrote and directed Deliver us From Evil, which opens on July 2. The supernatural thriller stars Eric Bana, Edgar Ramirez and Olivia Munn. He also wrote and directed The Exorcism of Emily Rose.

Marvel’s next step is to hire a writer for Doctor Strange, and Jon Aibel and Glenn Berger are two writers in contention. We will keep you posted as news beecomes available.

Do you think Scott Derrickson is a good choice to direct Doctor Strange?
