LEVIATHAN Blu-ray Review

Shout Factory is the best when it comes to giving overlooked cult classics new life on home video. They’ve done that once again with the release of Leviathan on Blu-ray.

The 1989 film directed by George P Cosmatos (Tombstone) and stars Peter Weller (Robocop), Amanda Pays (Max Headroom), Richard Crenna (First Blood), Daniel Stern (Home Alone) and Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters). Leviathan features a solid script by veteran screenwriters David Peoples (Blade Runner) and Jeb Stuart (Die Hard, The Fugitive) and amazing creature effects by the one and only Stan Winston (Aliens, Predator, Terminator 2, Jurassic Park).

This Blu-ray offers up the best looking and sounding version of the film since it’s release. The main selling points of the film for me is the awesome creature effects by Stan Winston and the cheesy script. Leviathan is one of those late 80s gems that is the perfect movie to watch with a group of friends. If you are a fan of sci-fi/horror and like Aliens, The Abyss and/or The Thing, then this Blu-ray is perfect for you.
