Reboot Could Be on Horizon for PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5
There’s a new (-ish) fad trending in Hollywood — giving movies still fresh in our memories reboots. In a recent interview with Orlando Bloom with IGN, a soft reboot could be Disney’s next move for the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie, Dead Men Tell No Tales.
“I’m not entirely sure that [I’ll be back] just yet, but there are talks,” he said in the interview. “Basically they want to reboot the whole franchise, I think, and do something with me and the relationship with my son.”
It’ll be nice to see another series alum return to the series, even if Bloom’s only been out of the franchise for one movie. Aside from his return to Middle Earth for The Hobbit Trilogy, Orlando Bloom’s movie career has been kind of bland for our tastes. It’s very likely we’ll see him return to Pirates now that he’s put up the elf ears and bow for good. But a soft reboot? Given the two sentences of possible plot we got from the actor, it doesn’t sound like a soft reboot is even needed. So what gives?
If Orlando Bloom signs onto to return as William Turner, aka the new Davey Jones, he’ll be reunited with Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush, who are reprising Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbosa respectively. Javier Bardem joins the cast as the villainous Captain Brand, a ghost pirate hellbent on getting revenge against Sparrow for the death of his brother.
