The Beek and Katee Sackhoff Star in Gritty POWER RANGERS Short

The original Green Ranger, Jason David Frank, has been on and on about putting a rebooted Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers series on the big screen, but we’ve yet to see any real results come to fruition. Luckily, there are some talented people out there who just do whatever the hell they want and make their own (fan) film. Director Joseph Khan, James Van Der Beek and Katee Sackhoff are some of those people. Warning: NSFW.

The Power Rangers lost the war against an invading machine race. The Rangers are either dead, missing, or have joined enemy. Beek plays Rocky — you may remember him as the second Red Ranger in the MMPR series. Rocky joined the enemy early on and is now on the hunt for Tommy (Russ Bain). The only way to get to him is through Kimberly (Sackhoff). This is a bloody bleak future for our once peppy heroes. It’s taking the messed up truths of MMPR and combining it with John Wick (which you should all see, by the way!).

The visuals are dark and very science fiction-y, way more than back in the 90s. And yes, there are battling mechs and even better fight scenes! This is for anyone who grew up with the original American cast.
