Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. “Love In The Time Of HYDRA” Recap
As we approach the release date of Age Of Ultron, it’s becoming more and more clear that Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. will have a direct tie-in to the new Avengers film. This week we saw Coulson’s team get completely fragmented, with Skye being shipped away to a safe house so she can get a better handle on her new “quaking” powers, while the rest of the team tries to ascertain what is really going on with Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse and her pal Mack.
But as viewers, we already know what type of plan is afoot: S.H.I.E.L.D. was never destroyed; in fact, the seem to have had a contingency plan for the events that took place in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, a plan that was somehow well above Coulson’s clearance level. As it turns out, this hidden S.H.I.E.L.D. leadership has been operating under the notion that Coulson is compromised due to the events of the first Avengers film and its subsequent fallout: Coulson now has alien DNA in his system, and The Mockingbird had been tasked with doing recon on his state of well-being.
Next week will bring Coulson into the forefront, as he goes head-to-head with the real S.H.I.E.L.D. leadership, led by the great Edward James Olmos. This show is at it’s most entertaining when it circles back around to what made it so fun in the beginning: its ties to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And we are well on our way to the premiere of the Avengers next big adventure, and it appears as though Coulson and company are coming along for that ride as well.
