Emerald City Comicon – Five Reasons To Be Excited For The Show!
Convention season is in full swing and I bet many of us have been to at least one already. I will be flying to Seattle, WA to attend Emerald City Comicon – the “premier comic book and pop culture convention in the Pacific Northwest” which will take place March 27-29, 2015.
This will be my third time attending and the show just keeps getting better and better so today I wanted to share with you why I am excited for Emerald City Comicon!
I can’t wait to see all the amazing costumes that people have worked so hard on at the show. Everyone is so talented and creative. It’s mind blowing how someone can take something 2D and create wearable art! Cosplay is one the best things about attending conventions. For those interested, their annual costume contest will be held Saturday night!
2. Off Site Events
Besides everything that is happening inside the convention floor, there are usually things happening off site and Emerald City Comicon has a great selection! Not everything is put on by the convention but it’s all still fun. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday they are hosting their ECCC Cinema Series! Stan Lee will be there Friday to introduce the ultimate team up movie, The Avengers. Saturday there will be a Q&A with Brandon Routh followed by a screening of Scott Pilgrim vs The World! Pacific Science Center Laser Dome will be hosting Laser Guardians, a light show set to the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack. The great thing about some of these events, you don’t need a badge!
(Emerald City Comicon has sold out of badges for this year.)
3. The Guests
If there is one thing that Emerald City Comicon doesn’t mess with, it’s with their guest list. It’s a great mix of celebrities and creators (both comics and cosplay).
Kelly Sue DeConnick, Ryan Ferrier, Stacey Lee, Jeff Lemire, Robbi Rodriguez and more are set to appear at the show.
The artist alley is also filled with some amazing talent from which I guarantee you will find a new favorite series and/or artist. You can find anything from a series regular to someone making a hand crafted item. There’s something for every geek.
4. Comic Book Variant Covers
It wouldn’t be a convention without comics and there are some great show exclusives. BOOM! Studios and Dark Horse both released a list of Emerald City Comiccon comic covers that will be sold during the show. The Wicked + The Divine creators Kieron Gillen & Jamie McKelvie will have a variant cover for issue 9. Of course there will be even more available at the show. Check your favorite booths!
Yes you! And me, and you over there! We will be spending three days together celebrating everything that we love – comics, films, animation, cosplay, and more. We will be with friends, meeting new friends, getting introduced to new creators, and over all having a good time.
Are you excited for this years Emerald City Comicon? Will you be attending all three days? Do you have your days already planned? I know I do and I can’t wait!
