Olivia Munn Cast as Psylocke in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’
Olivia Munn has been cast as Betsy Braddock, more commonly known as Psylocke, in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse. The director announced the news on social media earlier this week.
Psylocke is a mutant with telepathic abilities and ninja-like skills. Considering Munn’s heritage, it’s a safe bet that we’ll be getting the Betsy Braddock after she had swapped souls with a member of the Hand, a ninja clan more closely associated with Daredevil and the Immortal Iron Fist. That is, if they’re going with that origin.
Munn joins other new cast members Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, and Ben Hardy as Angel.
Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Oscar Isaac will also return to their respective roles in X-Men: Apocalypse, which will release on May 27, 2016.
Olivia Munn is mostly known for her time as co-host of Attack of the Show on G4 from 2006 to 2010. She appeared again as a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart for a year, and later played financial journalist Sloan Sabbith on HBO’s The Newsroom. Munn recently starred opposite Johnny Depp in Mortdecai, and will soon be seen with Kevin Hart and Ice Cube in Ride Along 2.
