So the Batman v Superman trailer leaked last night. It’s everything I was expecting: Terribly underwhelming. Everything that’s wrong with DC movies right now seems amplified here in this trailer. Take a look at the video below. If it doesn’t work, here’s the link.

[Pause to let you watch the video]

Right? I don’t know about you, but I’ve yet to be convinced that this movie won’t be a moody, doom and gloom look at our two heroes. Sure, Superman didn’t leave the world the best impression after his scuffle with Zod. And Batman has always been a bit on the brooding side. I get that DC and Warner Bros. want to continue the dour, “edgy” look that was introduced to us in Christopher Nolan’s Batman Trilogy, and I understand that they want to set themselves apart from Marvel (for some reason).

But, c’mon…

This trailer, and every promotional image we’ve seen before this, lacks so much color and vibrancy and excitement that it might as well be a black and white film. Or just another full-on Batman flick. Which I think this will become.

Speaking of Batman, his bits are intriguing to me. His armor looks bad-ass, and his only line in the trailer harkens back to Bane’s “You have my permission to die.” I can’t wait to see that confrontation go down.

On the flip side, Superman (the boy scout, the beacon of hope for humanity) is given a kind of spotlight similar to the Plutonian’s from Mark Waid’s Irredeemable.

Will I still see this movie? Yeah… But, I won’t be jumping out from the seat of my pants in anticipation for next year. I’m still riding the Star Wars and Avengers high. Both of those movies are considerably more lively and fun-looking.
