Could Asa Butterfield be our Next Spider-Man?
So this is what Latino Review is spouting on about this time: Asa Butterfield is currently in negotiations to become the MCU’s Spider-Man. Unconfirmed reports surfaced Thursday from both Latino Review and Umberto Gonzalez, saying that 18-year-old Asa Butterfield was offered the coveted role with Sony Pictures and Marcel Studios.
We already knew that Butterfield was on Sony and Marvel’s short list with Timothee Chalamet, Nat Wolff, Tom Holland, and Liam James. But there was no official announcement about the casting. Then The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit posted on Twitter that Butterfield was due to screen test for the role, but there are other actors still under consideration.
Once Spider-Man is cast, we’ll being seeing the young web-slinger in Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, which is scheduled to release on May 6, 2016. After that, Sony and Marvel will wedge a solo film into the Phase 3 lineup, on July 28, 2017.
Remember, this is all still considered rumor. Frankly, I would have said anything if this was just coming from Latino Review, a website notorious for making up rumors 50-percent of the time. What do you think if Butterfield was cast as the next Peter Parker?
