Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. “Scars” Recap

Avengers: Age Of Ultron has come and gone, and our Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. pick up the pieces yet again of another Avengers disaster. But this time it’s different – this time they’re actually learning as a result of The Avengers running rampant, instead of just merely cleaning up their mess.

As Tony Stark continued to work unchecked on artificial intelligence following his saving of the world in The Avengers, S.H.I.E.L.D. having trusted that he would continue to work towards crafting a better tomorrow. Instead he created the very thing that nearly destroyed human existence, and in the process he has set the stage for the next big Marvel film event, Captain America: Civil War.

S.H.I.E.L.D. has taken notice that Stark, for all his noble intent, is actually pushing mankind to a new era: an era of superhero registration and subsequent regulation. This is the basis for the Civil War story, eventually pitting Stark surprisingly on the side of S.H.I.E.L.D. as they attempt to register all metahumans on Earth. Captain America will most certainly have none of this, as he then breaks out on his own in an effort to maintain individual freedom for everyone – a decision that puts him on a collision course with Iron Man.

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., for all its Inhumans mumbo-jumbo this season, has pulled off the hail mary by becoming the link between the Ultron film’s fallout and the setup for Marvel’s Civil War. And while The Inhumans story is about to have its payoff next week in the Season Three finale, all eyes are on what’s next for Coulson and his team. Here’s to hoping they can leave all this Inhuman setup behind them, the concept now being established at the expense of Agent Coulson’s weekly television show. A show which was way more fun before the lost cities, mysterious mysts, and humans who are more than they appear to be, “humans” who seem to think of themselves as better than everyone else, deserving of their rightful place as the apex of all races on Earth. Sound familiar?

Fans, are you ready to wrap up this Inhumans story?
