May the 4th: Astronauts Celebrate Star Wars Day…in Space
No big deal, just some astronauts celebrating Star Wars Day by watching some Star Wars.
Astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) tweeted from an official NASA Twitter account revealing that they are celebrating Star Wars Day by screening one of the movies. The choice of which movie they decided to watch is suspect, but at least they decided to tweet a picture of the baddest-ass mother… Hey, I’m just talkin’ about Mace Windu.
These star explorers continue showing off their geeky side. Members of a forthcoming expedition to the ISS posed as Jedi Knights in their official group photo earlier this year.
The ISS recently installed a high-definition projector, which the astronauts also use for video conferences, displaying computer software, and (we suspect) a game of Galaga.
Commander Scott Kelly revealed last month that the team on board had also used it to watch the space disaster movie. Because that doesn’t play on one’s paranoia at all, even though the science in those movies is always preposterous. But tell that to horror movies…
