Second STAR WARS Anthology film to be Boba Fett’s Origin Story
In May The Fourth Be With You news, it was announced that the second film in the Star Wars Anthology series will revolve around everyone’s favorite Mandalorian Bounty Hunter.
The film which is set to be released sometime in 2018, will be an origin story for Boba Fett. He made his first appearance in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back dealing with Darth Vader while working for Jabba the Hutt. (I’m not counting the special edition scene.) He reappeared again in Star Wars Episode IV: Return of the Jedi where he died in the most pathetic and laughable way – a blind Han Solo knocking his jet pack sending him careening off the barge into the Sarlaac pit.
We do see a bit of his upbringing in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones where he was raised by his father Jango Fett who he later saw get killed at the hands of a Jedi. Boba Fett does make additional appearance in Star Wars The Clones Wars animated series. I did not keep up with the expanded universe but I know he did have a back story but it’s no longer considered canon. It will be interesting to see how they fill his time line between the tragic childhood we met him in to his apparent death in Return of the Jedi.
Boba Fett’s origin story will be released in 2018 until then the first film the in Anthology series, Star Wars: Rouge One starts production this summer with a December 2016 release date.
What are your thoughts on the Boba Fett film?
