BROADCHURCH Series 2 – DVD Review
Broadchurch, the show that shocked the world is back for a second series, making us wonder how they’ll do it again and what can possibly go down after the first series.
Series 2 of the complex crime drama finds the community of Broadchurch attempting to rebuild itself following the shocking events of Series 1. As the case goes to court, more devastating secrets come to light.
When they announced Broadchurch would be returning, I flailed with joy. It was one of my top favorite shows that premiered in 2013 and featured some of my favorite actors. I was also excited to continue this story instead of trying to watch Gracepoint. (Did anyone who watched Broadchurch enjoy Gracepoint?) I wasn’t sure what to expect, but after the first episode, I was hooked. Series 1 was a 10 episode mystery event surrounding the death of a boy from a local family. What first started off as a typical crime show, slowly turned into an event like no other where the whole town soon became a suspect, each hiding their own dark secrets. I could go on and on about series 1, but I’m her to discuss series 2.
I will not be spoiling series 2 by any means, but instead, just share what you can expect. If you are skeptical like me, I wouldn’t worry all that much. Series 2 focuses more on the aftermath of series 1, which brings its own problems for each of the characters, some of which are new and add something fresh to the series. Whenever I recommend series 2, I like to always say that it is a epilogue of sorts. New, exciting, and mysterious stuff does pop up, which would explain why a third series is in development, but it does answer some of your questions as to how the community as a whole is happening.
If you enjoyed series 1 of Broadchurch, I’m sure you’ll love series 2. It’s excited, you learn more about the characters, and some new stuff comes to light, making this a stunning second series. Also the newly released DVD features some amazing bonus content like a behind the scenes look at the making of the show, cast and crew interviews, deleted scenes and special titled, “The Making of Broadchurch”.
