Kelly Sue DeConnick To Step Down from CAPTAIN MARVEL

This past weekend while at HeroesCon in Charlotte, North Carolina, I attended the Milkfed Criminal Masterminds panel, which housed the talents of Matt Fraction, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Chip Zdarsky, Christian Ward, and other artists who help in that part of the comics world.

The news has broke since then, but Kelly Sue announced she would be stepping down from Captain Marvel, one of the comics she’s been writing for years. Kelly said that since the movie is announced, she would have to either strap in for three more years or drop everything and get out. It’s no doubt that Kelly Sue has had a huge impact on the rise of Captain Marvel’s popularity these past few years, so to see her go is bittersweet. But it’s Kelly Sue and she is working on a million other projects at the moment, so don’t fear, comic book lovers.

It was also recently announced that Captain Marvel will be left in the hands of Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas, the showrunners behind the hit ABC series, Agent Carter. Yes, you read that correct. Looks like Captain Marvel will definitely still be amazing, seeing as how most Marvel fans are obsessed with Agent Carter. I was worried at first, but between Kelly Sue really believing in them and the fact that they brought us a show like Agent Carter, I can’t wait to see what Carol gets up too next!
