SHENMUE III’s Kickstarter Campaign Funded in Mere Hours
During the Sony’s E3 press conference, video game creator Yu Suzuki came onto the stage and announced that he wants to finish his ambitious, cult favorite video game trilogy with Shenmue III. To do that, he started a Kickstarter campaign. That was Monday. As sure as the sun rises on the next day, Shenmue III is already fully funded. It reached its $2 million goal mere hours after launching.
When I last wrote about this game, it was already 44-percent funded. Now it has 35,148 backers with $2,763,646 already in the bank, as of writing this. We did it, you guys! We’re finally going to give Ryu sweet, sweet revenge on Lan Di for killing his father! REVENGE!!!!!
About the game’s story:
Where we left off… Ryo Hazuki has made his way to China in search of his father’s killer. There he meets a new travelling companion, Shenhua, and learns of a legend from her village that has foretold their path together.
The story continues as Ryo and Shenhua start off on a new journey that will take them farther into enemy territory, deeper into mystery, and ever closer to their destiny.
Will the mystery of the mirrors be revealed? How is Ryo’s father connected to all of this? Will Ryo track down the Chi You Men cartel and face Lan Di in a final showdown?
With a $29 donation, fans can get a digital copy of the game for the PC or the PS4. There are still 31 days left in the campaign. That means we can get those cool stretch goals out of the way.
So, readers, will you be backing the game too?
