THE POWERPUFF GIRLS Return To Television

Sugar, spice and everything nice: Cartoon Network announced the return of The Powerpuff Girls. Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup will be back to save the town of Townsville. We have your first promo image from the new series.

It seems that the new series will look much like the original that ran from 1998-2004 and gave us 78 episodes and a feature film. Tom Kenny will return to reprise his role as the narrator/the Mayor of Townsville but a new cast will be voicing the super powered little girls; Amanda Leighton as Blossom, Kristen Li as Bubbles, and Natalie Palamides as Buttercup.

The series told the story about Professor Utonium who was creating three perfect little girls but after he accidentally spilled some Chemical X they become super powered heroines. Each episode had Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup fighting villains such as Mojo Jojo, The Gangreen Gang, Princess Morbucks, and my favorite HIM all before bed-time.

The Powerpuff Girls won’t be airing until 2016 but you can catch the original 78 episodes on Netflix. There was also The Powerpuff Girls Movie, a CG-animated feature titled Powerpuff Girls Special: Dance Pantsed that aired last year and an anime series based on the cartoon titled Powerpuff Girls Z which aired in Japan for 52 episodes.

The Powerpuff Girls is set to debut next year on Cartoon Network.
