THE STRAIN Review – “Intruders”
Again, sorry for the late review. I’ve been catching up due to traveling, so I just wrote up a review for the preview episode, so make sure to check that out right here. But now onto The Strain‘s latest episode, “Intruders” aka the attack of all attacks episodes. (Okay, maybe not.)
“Intruders” managed to be one of the highlights of the season, pacing out the story evenly and mixing plot and strigoi, while not perfectly, pretty well. Although while watching, one thing is apparent: Eph is very blunt with his son as to what happened to his mother. It’s refreshing to see this type of interaction. It seems in most media the father tries to keep the son from the horrors that have occurred, but Eph is different. He’s been through it. He knows the consequences of holding secrets, even if he still does. It’s something small and something we’ve noticed, but I felt it was worth pointing out. Eph is far from perfect, but that’s what makes him a great character.
This episode packed a whole lot of story (that was actually entertaining) within its timeframe, which is something that The Strain rarely does, but when it does, it works perfectly! If you were worried that certain storylines were at a standstill, don’t worry, this episode really helped push a few of them forward. And while that is great and all, the best part of the episode, in my opinion, was that Kelly finally crossed the borders and found her son. This then led into one big attack of her and the Feelers. It was intense and felt worse than the usual attacks because it came out of nowhere, proving once again, that none of them are safe.
There’s only one month left of The Strain and if this episode is any indication, the next episodes are going to pick up quite a bit, making us even more excited for the sure to be epic finale.
