ASH VS. EVIL DEAD Review – “Bait”

So how much did you guys love the second episode of Ash vs. Evil Dead?! I’m so excited to finally share all my thoughts and feelings on the episode as it blended so perfectly after the iconic Deadite fight sequence we saw in the premiere. Ash vs. Evil Dead being only 30 minutes is still strange to me, but I love it. It means that the story picks up really quick instead of being stretched for an hour. It’s also strange because it always feels like longer, which is something not a lot of shows are capable of. It’s safe to say from the beginning that Ash vs. Evil Dead is one of the strongest contenders for best show of the year. This is coming from my hardcore Evil Dead fan side and also just critiquing a damn good show.

Warning: slight spoilers!ash-vs-evil-dead-102-ray-santiago-dana-delorenzoThis episode was titled, “Bait”, and picked up right where we left off in “El Jafe” after Ash (Bruce Campbell) cuts off the lady’s head with the chainsaw. After these events, Ash is set on his mission to translate the book and stop this madness, but Dana (Kelly Maxwell) wants to go save her dad after seeing her dead mother alive and well via video chat. After Ash refuses, she takes off on her on… but with the book. This then leads Ash and Pablo (Ray Santiago) on the hunt for her and the book. The trip to her house and the crazy scenes that take place within are sure to please all Evil Dead fans. (I was smiling with happiness the entire time.)

“Bait” managed to be just as great, if not better, than the premiere, which a lot of shows struggle with. It made us love the characters even more and really shows the viewers, who may be new to the Evil Dead universe, how exactly the Deadites will try to ruin your life. It was also a brand new step in the Evil Dead universe as this was the first time Sam Raimi didn’t direct an Evil Dead film or episode. I actually really enjoyed . This is, of course, just direction, so we’ll see how it goes when Sam steps down and lets someone else do the writing. I’m sure it’ll be almost as amazing, but I’m really curious to see how it the episode will feel.

What did you think of the episode?
