TRANSPORTER REFUELED Blu-ray Review – This Reboot Should have Been Left in the Garage

Transporter Refueled is one reboot that I wish had been left in the garage. I saw this in theaters and had the chance recently to review the Blu-ray. My opinion of the film has not changed on the second viewing. I am struggling to say anything positive about the film.

Replacing Jason Statham was inevitable, because even he wouldn’t likely have wanted to make another installment. The third film is a prime example of why that is the case. I am super excited to see Deadpool in theaters and one of the benefits of Transporter Refueled is that we get to see Ed Skrein who plays Ajax in the film.

The only reason I have seen the films in the Transporter series is because of the fights and driving sequences. The driving is decent is Transporter Refueled, but the fights are down right ridiculous. Skrein is no Statham. His fight choreography is not on par with the past Transporter films, but that is because of his height in my opinion. The shining light is the performance by Ray Stevenson, who plays Frank’s father.

Synopsis:

Frank Martin is living a less perilous lifestyle, or so he thinks, transporting classified packages for questionable people. Things get complicated when femme fatale Anna and her three accomplices orchestrate a bank heist and the kidnapping of Frank’s father. It’s all part of a grand plan to take down the human trafficker who victimized her years earlier. Now a pawn in her vengeful scheme, the former special-operations mercenary must use his covert skills to play Anna’s dangerous game.
