Steve Jobs Blu-ray Review
For the second time in less than two years, Steve Jobs makes his way to the big screen and to your home in Blu-ray and DVD form for the aptly titled Steve Jobs. However, unlike the 2013 depiction of the Apple co-founder and guru’s life, the Michael Fassbender lead installment was met with wholesale critical praise from cast’s performance, the Aaron Sorkin penned script, and Danny Boyle’s directorial effort. Although the film was not met with the box office success that Universal Pictures likely hoped for, it has been recognized at countless awards shows, including the upcoming Academy Awards. Steve Jobs boasts a star studded cast lead by the aforementioned Fassbender, Kate Winslet, Jeff Daniels, Seth Rogen and Katherine Waterston.
The film follows its real-life titular character as he goes through numerous important stages in his life, ranging from early to middle to late in his career, and how those around him were impacted. From the landmark introduction of the first Macintosh, to Jobs’s often tumultuous personal life, to his dismissal from Apple Inc. and subsequent start at NeXT Inc., and back at Apple Inc. once more to release the iMac, Steve Jobs gives a well-rounded look at the controversial tech pioneer in his peaks and valleys, and gives audiences a peek behind the curtain at one of the most influential individuals the computer industry has ever had.
Although questions of the validity of the script have come into play, like with many biopics, from both friends, family, and co-workers, Steve Jobs was a criminally under viewed film given the praise it received. Many movie fans may have missed it in theaters, but now we all have the chance to view it from the comfort of our own home on Blu-ray.
