THE BOY Blu-ray REVIEW

Dim the lights, grab a blanket, and make sure to keep an eye on all of your inanimate playthings, because The Boy is coming to Blu-Ray on May 10th!

The Boy was released on January 22, 2016, and wrapped up its successful theatrical run to the tune of over $62 million dollars worldwide against a budget of only $10 million, a substantial profit for the smaller picture.  Lauren Cohan and Rupert Evans lead the William Brent Bell directed thriller that follows a young woman who flees an abusive relationship in the United States to be a nanny for a wealthy British family and watch over their son.  Little does she know that the son is actually a porcelain doll that must be treated as if it is a real boy.  Or is it?

Although The Boy made a substantial profit, it did not bring in as large of a haul as the studio may have hoped.  While Cohan has developed a following via AMC’s The Walking Dead, she lacked the ultimate star power to bring the show’s massive audience along with her.  However, with the film’s theatrical run over, it now affords movie fans everywhere the opportunity to watch the film at home and decide what they think of the thriller.

In case you missed it in theaters, or want to add it to your collection, here are the details on the Blu-Ray release of The Boy.

THE BOY SYNOPSIS

A young American named Greta  takes a job as a nanny for an 8-year-old boy in a remote English village. To her surprise, Greta learns that the child of her new employers is a life-size doll. They care for the doll as if it was human, which helps the couple to cope with the death of their own son 20 years earlier. When Greta violates a list of strict rules, a series of disturbing and inexplicable events bring her worst fears to life, leading her to believe that the doll is alive.
