id Software’s DOOM Gets An Awesome 2D Retro Makeover

This week game designers Felipe Porcel and Juan Carlos Porcel unveiled a short, revamped, retro version of one of the very first, and still today most popular, FPS games ever created: DOOM.

Their new version re-imagines the PC classic as a side-scrolling, 2D, retro platformer, complete with all the ultra-violence and gore you love and remember from the original game. Entitled MiniDOOM, the game is extremely short on length, but makes up for that in its creative recreation and overwhelming replayability.

The developers plan to create additional installments of the game in the coming months, but for now, this 11 megabyte wonder can be downloaded in all its glory here.
