Meet Aggretsuko! The Sanrio Character You Can Relate To
If you ever heard of or know anything about the company Sanrio, you know they are known for their cute characters like Hello Kitty and more recently Gudetama. Well, another character has been recently introduced and, although cute, isn’t quite like the other characters Sanrio has ever released. Meet Aggretsuko (Aggressive Retsuko). As you can see and read in the description of her introduction video, Aggretsuko is a cute Red Panda, working as an office associate in the accounting department of a highly respected trading company. She works in one of the biggest metropolitan areas of Tokyo.
It’s always been a dream of Aggretsuko to work as an accountant, especially in this part of the city. But in reality, her bosses are unsympathetic and give her harsh deadlines. She ultimately has become a pushover within the company. When she gets pushed to the limit, she goes out after work and takes out her frustration and stress with heavy metal Karaoke sessions! How many of us wouldn’t want to just blow off some steam, singing loudly and aggressively the thoughts we can’t at work? She not only does karaoke, every now and then she has herself a nice….adult beverage, cause, yeah! But even with all the harsh deadlines and annoying coworkers she has to deal with, at the end of the day, she still looks forward to the next day with a positive attitude. Retsuko has goals so she isn’t going to let all this get to her. In a way, it’s kind of inspirational. It almost makes you want to be a better person. Hopefully, you have a karaoke bar to help you along the way as well.
Aggretsuko is actually a short-form TV anime that debuted back on April 02, 2016. The titular character is the result of a 2015 general election poll where fans voted that they wanted to see a new character with a salaryman / office lady theme. Each episode is approximately one minute in length. If you search on youtube, you can actually find a few episodes subtitled. The series is directed by Rareko (Sushi and Beyond).
