Studio Ghibli To Bring Back 6 Animated Films To Movie Theaters

2017 is looking to be a good year for fans of classic Studio Ghibli animated movies. Princess Mononoke had a special cinema event showing in movie theaters earlier in the year, with Spirited Away prior to it. With the success of these two award winning, highly acclaimed movies, GKIDS and Fathom Events will be doing more cinema events featuring other popular animated movies in 2017. This partnership is being called Studio Ghibli Fest. The event will begin in June and will feature 6 movies in both English dub and English subtitles. Tickets for the event are scheduled to begin April 28 on the Fathom Events website here with a list of which theaters will be playing the movies.

The partnership will also bring the French animated movie Mune: Guardian of the Moon to U.S. theaters for the very first time, as well as GKIDS Minifest, an ongoing collection of award-winning and international animated short films. Two additional new U.S. releases are being planned for later in the year as well.
