CONNECTICON XV – A Look Inside the 2017 Convention

Connecticon XV took place in Hartford Connecticut from July 6th – 9th this year, which coincided with Hartford’s Riverfest. Every year thousands of cosplayers journey to Hartford and bring their best, and this year was no exception. Connecticon is one of the best cons for cosplayers – the Marriott hotel is attached to the convention center so traveling in large cosplay is very minimal and also it makes it easy for quick changes. Riverfest brings food trucks extremely close to the convention so you don’t even have to travel more than five minutes for food. There’s even fireworks, which makes for incredible cosplay photoshoots.

The only downside to Connecticon is how quickly it ends – and in the past few years the convention center starting closing earlier. Weekend passes are a little pricey in comparison to similar conventions, but they do get incredible guests. A weekend pass for Connecticon is $75 whereas a weekend pass for Colossalcon East is $50 at the door. If you register for Connecticon early enough there’s lower rates, but I think it starts out at about $50. Plan ahead if you’re looking to save on tickets.

Connecticon’s guest list every year surprises me – they’ve had Richard Horvitz, Tom Kenny, Rikki Simons, too many great voice actors to count, and this year they had Sylvester McCoy.

The weekend also was great for nerdy art collectors – their artist alley is perfect every year. I always find new artists at Connecticon and I’m definitely going to need more wall space for prints.

Hope this sums up the con pretty well – Now let’s get to the photos. 🙂 Click the image to see the full thing & browse the whole gallery.

Hope you enjoyed, share & comment if you recognize any cosplayers! See you next year, Hartford!
