June 2nd, 2017 has come to pass, and after decades of waiting for fans all over the world, and across multiple generations, DC Comic’s Amazonian Warrior Princess, Diana Prince, has finally arrived on the silver screen in Wonder Woman  and the comic-book film genre has been forever changed. This passing date and the seminal DC character’s debut on the big screen marks the very first time a solo, big-budget superhero film has been created around a single female character. And this is a film with no studio tentpole faces like Iron Man to showcase, no Man Of Steel…but rather the female lead of DC’s legendary Trinity, Wonder Woman.

Also, DC Comics has bested Marvel Studios yet again, who for all their gloss, flash and fun, continue to overlook the importance of consistently investing in and developing true characters for the screen as DC’s Wonder Woman film has captivated audiences worldwide, grossing a worldwide $792 million dollars as of this post. And it’s not just your nerdy comic book fan-boys who are turning out in droves to see the debut of Diana Prince: the film’s exit polls show Wonder Woman movie-going audiences are over 60% female.

The film itself is, without question, the single best comic book origin story film produced since Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger. More importantly, however, is that not only has DC now finally produced an origin film of such great quality (which is really difficult for me to say, because I love Man Of Steel – but WW is just that much better), but they’ve done so on the shoulders of the world’s most recognizable female hero – and this is something that Hollywood has ridiculously failed to do for nearly 100 years since the day it was founded.
