Netflix $8 Billion Budget To Go Towards New Anime And Original Films

It was announced from Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos that Netflix will be increasing their content budget up. In a video conference call, it was there where Saraondos revealed that the new budget had increased to $8 billion. It looks like for the 2018 year, Netflix plans to bring 80 original films to the site. With news of names like Disney this year opting to remove their content from the streaming site and on to their own future one, it would make sense for Netflix to try to have more ownership content when or if more third parties decide to also pull content of.

Original films isn’t the only thing this new budget will be put towards. It seems that Netflix will be showing some love to anime as well. Its being said that a good amount of the $8 billion will be going towards 30 new anime content. All 30 of the new anime to come are expected to be released in 2018. Recently Netflix have been releasing anime content from Japanese only companies on the site like Knights of Sidonia and Ajin: Demi Human. And last month Netflix released its first original anime like series Neo Yokio by Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig featuring Jaden Smith voicing the main character.
