Throwback Review – CASINO
Casino is a movie that is based on a book by Nicholas Pileggi. The movie is directed by Martin Scorsese. The setting of the movie was during the 1970s when the casinos in Las Vegas were operated by a set of mobsters.
The life of Nicky Santoro (played by Joe Pesci) and Sam “Ace” Rothstein (played by Robert De Niro) was the center of the story.
Ace and Nicky are partners. Ace operates the Tangiers Casino and a Hotel and he found a great deal of success. Ginger, Ace’s wife, is a former call girl who is only hungry for money and the destruction of her husband.
The Casino movie is packed full of violence and action. It offers viewers a clear image of what Las Vegas was like during that period.
Before your eyes, characters crumble and grow. You will find yourself feeling sorry for a very rich mobster and his fouled relationships.
Casino is Rated R
For many reasons, this movie is rated R. The reasons include an extreme amount of bad language.
In particular, Nicky does not speak any sentence without a swear word. Aside from that, there are a lot of scenes complete with violence where you see individuals getting beaten badly and soaking with blood.
Furthermore, nudity and sex are also dominant all over the movie where viewers are exposed to the body parts of women and where sex is implied. In addition to that, you’ll see a great deal of drug and alcohol abuse across the film.
Ginger is a call girl who’s addicted to cocaine and you will see a lot of times where she will snort the drug up her nose.
The film is extremely intense. It also really portrays as to what happened in Las Vegas back in the day and therefore this movie is not advised for someone under the age of 17.
Analysis of Characters
If there is such a thing, ace is a criminal that you’ll love. He’s got no issues killing people off, even though he is obviously working for bad individuals. He is also extremely proud. However, you still want him to succeed.
He is a great individual who’s gotten himself into circumstances he cannot control. Of course, you will want to watch him overcome his difficulties.
The antagonist of the movie is definitely Nicky. When it comes to obtaining what he wants, he has no boundaries. He kills tons of individuals. Almost all of them are innocents.
Ginger is a call girl who’s strikingly gorgeous. She has a great love for money and she is greatly attached to Lester, her pimp. You will see the true colors of Ginger as the movie goes on, which is not lovely to watch.
Is It Worth Watching?
Although, we might have to settle with playing casino online – the land-based casino feeling is not exactly shining through as in other movies, such as Casino Royale. Throughout the film, the characters were developed well. It is easy to see the change and growth of the character as the movie goes on. You will find yourself relating to the struggles of the characters even though most of them are horrible.
You might also appreciate the film’s ambiance. You will truly grasp on what casinos were like during that period.
The story is extremely interesting. You will not guess what is going to happen next. That’s what makes a movie great.
However, there are several features to the film that cause it to obtain a lower rating. For instance, in the 1st hour of the film, a lot of people were not fond of the excessive amount of narration. A lot of people also don’t like the amount of profanity spoken throughout the movie. However, overall, the film is excellent.
